Discover the perfect balance of natural elegance and technical performance with this charcoal laminated wool fabric from Canada Goose designer deadstock. Made in Italy, this premium outerwear fabric features a soft, brushed 100% wool face bonded to a protective laminated backing, combining the sophisticated appearance of wool with enhanced weather-resistant functionality.
The deep charcoal grey colour offers a timeless, understated look, making this fabric an excellent choice for contemporary outerwear, tailored jackets, and minimalist designs. Its subtly brushed surface creates a refined matte finish with the beautiful natural texture of wool.
At 260 gsm, this lightweight-to-medium-weight technical wool provides a practical alternative to traditional heavyweight wool coating. Its laminated construction adds functionality without the excessive bulk often associated with winter coating fabrics.
Originally sourced from Canada Goose production surplus, this specialty fabric was developed for technical outerwear applications. Its waterproof, wind-resistant, and downproof characteristics make it particularly interesting for sewing projects where both style and protective construction are important.
What Is Laminated Wool Fabric?
Laminated wool is created by bonding a protective membrane or backing to a wool fabric. This specialized construction is designed to improve resistance to moisture and wind while maintaining the natural appearance and soft surface of wool.
Unlike conventional wool coating, laminated wool combines textile comfort with technical outerwear functionality. The protective layer helps reduce the penetration of external moisture and can make the material suitable for down-filled and insulated garment construction.
This Canada Goose deadstock fabric has been described as waterproof and downproof. Specific waterproof ratings, breathability measurements, and hydrostatic-head test results are not available. The waterproof performance of a finished garment depends on the sewing and seam-finishing methods used.
Fabric Features
- 100% Wool Face: Naturally warm with a beautifully soft, brushed surface.
- Protective Lamination: Bonded backing designed to provide additional resistance to moisture and wind.
- Waterproof Construction: Designed for enhanced protection against wet weather.

- Downproof Properties: Designed to help limit down and feather migration in insulated garments.
- Lightweight Technical Coating: 260 gsm offers a less bulky alternative to traditional heavy wool coating.
- Charcoal Grey: A versatile neutral shade suited to classic and modern outerwear.
- Italian Origin: Premium wool fabric made in Italy.

Sewing Tips
When working with laminated wool, use a suitable sharp sewing needle and test stitching on a small fabric scrap before cutting your project.
Avoid unnecessary pinholes, as needle punctures may affect the protective backing. Fabric clips can be useful for holding pieces together during construction.
Use caution when pressing. High heat and direct contact with an iron can damage the laminate. Test all interfacing, pressing, and seam-finishing techniques before use.
For garments requiring waterproof seams, use seam-sealing methods compatible with the backing. Conventional stitched seams are not automatically waterproof.
Care Instructions
Gently spot clean with a damp cloth when possible. Avoid soaking, abrasive scrubbing, bleach, harsh detergents, machine washing, and tumble drying.
Do not apply direct high heat or iron the laminated backing. Professional cleaning by a specialist familiar with laminated wool and technical outerwear is recommended. Standard dry-cleaning solvents may not be compatible with all laminated membranes.
