The 237 Tango Dress sewing pattern by Folkwear captures the glamour and movement of the tango craze of the 1910s and 1920s. The pattern includes two distinctive dress views plus knitting instructions for a coordinating hip-length V-neck cardigan.
The dress features an unusual and dramatic construction with a long sleeveless bodice extending to the hips and a bias-cut skirt created from uniquely shaped sections. A front hip panel echoes the V-neckline, while a shallow V shapes the bodice-to-skirt seam at the back. Both versions are finished with a rolled collar extending into elegant front ties.
View A is the more understated daytime version, retaining the body-skimming bodice and flowing bias-cut skirt while omitting the dramatic back cutout, streamers and uneven hemline.
View B recreates the dramatic 1920s evening style with a V-shaped back cutout, two triangular streamers and an asymmetric handkerchief hemline designed to emphasize movement.
The pattern also includes complete knitting instructions for a coordinating V-neck cardigan sweater worked in stockinette stitch. The hip-length cardigan can be made as an everyday layer or worked in a shimmering novelty yarn for an evening look.

All of our sewing patterns are sold as digital PDF files and are delivered instantly after purchase.
Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.
Please make sure you have the correct email address and a device that can open PDF files before completing your order.
If you encounter any issues with your download link or file, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
Please note that monitor or device settings may affect how you view product colours on our website. We cannot issue a refund if there are discrepancies between the product image and the actual colour.
