The Polar Cap & Ear Warmer by The Green Pepper is a practical and easy-to-sew accessory pattern designed to keep the whole family warm during colder weather. Create a cozy fleece cap with lined ear flaps or a reversible ear warmer, perfect for winter walks, outdoor adventures, camping and everyday wear.
The Polar Cap features a comfortable stretch fleece crown, a lined lower band with extended ear flaps and adjustable hook-and-loop chin straps. The straps can be fastened beneath the chin for extra protection or secured on top of the cap when not needed.
The reversible ear warmer offers a lightweight alternative to a full hat, providing warmth around the ears while leaving the top of the head uncovered. Both accessories require very little fabric, making them excellent projects for using fleece remnants or creating handmade gifts.

Recommended Fabrics
Outer Fabric:
- Four-way stretch polar fleece with at least 40% crosswise stretch
- Comparable stretch fleece fabrics
Lining Fabric:
- Brushed polypropylene/Lycra
- Stretch micropolar fleece with sufficient crosswise stretch
Important Fabric Note: This pattern is specifically designed for four-way stretch Polartec fleece with Lycra. Your fabric must have at least 40% crosswise stretch for accurate sizing and a comfortable fit. Non-stretch fleece is not recommended.

- 100% polyester sewing thread
- Hook-and-loop tape for the Polar Cap chin straps – one 2 3/4" / 7 cm loop piece and one 2" / 5 cm hook piece
- Sewing machine with zigzag or stretch stitch
- Size 11 or 12 (70 or 80) ballpoint sewing machine needle
- Extra-sharp, long straight pins
- Sharp scissors
- Ruler, measuring tape or sewing gauge
- Tailor's chalk or fabric marking tool
Head Measurements
Measure around the largest part of the head, just above the ears.
Children:
- XS: 18" / 46 cm
- S: 19" / 49 cm

Adults:

- L: 23" / 58 cm
Sizing Note: Adult sizing begins at size S. Select your size according to your head circumference and ensure that your fabric meets the required stretch percentage.

Other Provinces in Canada, USA, and International Shipping
For customers in other Canadian provinces, the USA, or internationally, we offer a range of shipping options through various carriers. The customer is responsible for selecting their preferred shipping method at checkout.
Please note that our system provides an estimated shipping cost at checkout, which may not always reflect the actual shipping charges.
In cases of oversized orders, shipments to rural or remote areas, or delivery to P.O. boxes, the final shipping cost may differ. If this occurs, we will contact you directly with the updated shipping cost, which will be the responsibility of the customer.

All orders shipped outside of Canada — including to the United States — may be subject to import duties, customs fees, taxes and other charges assessed by the destination country’s customs authorities. These charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost and are the sole responsibility of the customer.

All of our sewing patterns are sold as digital PDF files and are delivered instantly after purchase.
Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.
Please make sure you have the correct email address and a device that can open PDF files before completing your order.
If you encounter any issues with your download link or file, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
Please note that monitor or device settings may affect how you view product colours on our website. We cannot issue a refund if there are discrepancies between the product image and the actual colour.
