The Bamberton Shorts by Thread Theory are a versatile men's shorts sewing pattern designed for comfort, movement and effortless everyday style. Featuring a relaxed, boxy silhouette, roomy legs and an adjustable elastic waistband with a drawstring, these shorts are perfect for everything from summer outings to beach days and casual weekends.

Thoughtful details elevate this design beyond a basic pair of shorts. Deep front slash pockets, decorative topstitching, a mock fly and side panels create a polished finish, while the choice of back patch pockets with flaps or welt pockets allows you to customize the look.

With three variations and multiple waistband options, the Bamberton Shorts can be sewn in breathable linen for a refined summer wardrobe, lightweight cotton for everyday wear or water-resistant woven fabrics for beach and activewear. Contrasting fabrics offer additional opportunities to create a distinctive, personalized garment.

Designed with Thread Theory's expanded men's sizing system, this pattern includes 35 sizes across two separate size ranges, A–R and S–II, accommodating hip measurements from approximately 37" to 71". Both size ranges are included in the PDF pattern.

Variation 2 – Self-Fabric Waistband:

Recommended Fabrics

Choose lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics according to the intended use of your shorts.

For Everyday Shorts: Linen, cotton and seersucker offer breathable comfort and a relaxed summer appearance.

For Beach or Activewear: Choose lightweight water-repellent or water-resistant woven polyester or nylon. Fabrics may have no stretch, slight stretch or 2-way stretch.

For Waistbands: Use sturdy knit fabric, ribbing or the main woven fabric, depending on the variation.

Important: Avoid spandex-rich and 4-way stretch fabrics, as they are too stretchy for this pattern.

Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.

PLEASE NOTE

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.

Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.

Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.

We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.

We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.

If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.

Please note that monitor or device settings may affect how you view product colours on our website. We cannot issue a refund if there are discrepancies between the product image and the actual colour.
