Intricate Starburst Embroidery in a Captivating Blue

Discover the exceptional beauty of this bright blue embroidered cotton eyelet fabric, sourced from a luxury textile manufacturer that produces fabrics for European luxury fashion houses.

Part of our carefully curated Luxury Manufacturer Deadstock Collection, this distinctive 100% cotton textile showcases richly detailed embroidery, carefully executed cutwork and a captivating all-over geometric design.

The fabric features a repeating arrangement of circular starburst medallions, each with an open centre crossed by delicate embroidered spokes that create a striking wheel-like effect. Surrounding each central motif are concentric embroidered circles, small eyelet openings and intricate decorative stitching.

The closely arranged medallions are connected visually by smaller embroidered details, creating a beautiful sense of rhythm and continuity throughout the fabric. The combination of raised stitching, openwork and precisely arranged geometric motifs gives this textile a sophisticated, almost lace-like character.

What makes this design particularly special is the tone-on-tone blue embroidery. The matching threads enhance the texture without introducing contrasting colours, allowing the intricate craftsmanship and rich surface detail to remain the focal point.

Its beautiful bright blue shade brings a fresh, expressive character to this traditional embroidery technique, making it equally suitable for contemporary designs, romantic silhouettes and statement summer garments.

Beautiful Texture with a Lightweight-to-Midweight Feel

Made from 100% cotton and weighing 182 gsm – 5.37 oz/yd², this fabric combines the natural breathability of cotton with the additional body and surface texture created by its extensive embroidery.

Compared with very lightweight cotton voile eyelets, its more substantial embroidered construction makes it especially appealing for garments that benefit from a little extra structure while retaining a beautiful natural drape.

The decorative openings allow light to pass through the fabric, creating subtle transparency and adding depth to the embroidered design. Depending on the garment and desired coverage, a lightweight lining or underlayer may be added.

With its all-over embroidery, this fabric can transform even a simple sewing pattern into a distinctive, beautifully detailed garment.

Luxury Manufacturer Deadstock | Limited Availability

This exceptional embroidered cotton originates from the existing inventory of a textile manufacturer that produces materials for European luxury fashion houses.

Manufacturer deadstock fabrics come from surplus or unused textile inventories rather than new production commissioned specifically for our store. These fabrics offer sewists an opportunity to discover distinctive materials, unusual designs and beautifully executed textile techniques.

The combination of detailed circular embroidery, vibrant colour and intricate openwork makes this cotton a remarkable choice for anyone who appreciates beautiful textile craftsmanship and unique sewing materials.

As with all fabrics in our Luxury Manufacturer Deadstock Collection, quantities are limited and restocking cannot be guaranteed once the available inventory has sold out.

Sewing Inspiration

This richly embroidered blue cotton is ideal for garments that allow the circular starburst pattern to take centre stage.

  • Summer Dresses: Create striking sundresses, button-front dresses, relaxed A-line silhouettes or gathered dresses that highlight the intricate embroidery.
  • Elegant Blouses: Sew statement blouses with puff sleeves, gently gathered details, simple necklines or structured collars.
  • Shirts: Make beautiful button-up shirts that combine a timeless silhouette with richly textured eyelet embroidery.
  • Skirts: Design A-line, gathered or softly structured skirts that showcase the all-over circular pattern.
  • Matching Sets: Create coordinated tops and skirts or elegant summer separates for a modern, polished look.
  • Lightweight Summer Jackets: Make an unstructured layering piece or a decorative cropped jacket, with an appropriate lining if desired.
  • Statement Details: Feature the embroidery in sleeves, yokes, collars, cuffs or decorative garment panels.

Sewing Recommendations

  • Recommended Needle: Universal or Microtex needle, size 80/12.
  • Thread: Good-quality all-purpose polyester or cotton sewing thread.
  • Stitch Length: Approximately 2.5 mm for standard seams.
  • Seam Finishing: French seams, neatly finished overlocked seams or bound seams, depending on the garment.
  • Lining: Lightweight cotton voile, cotton lawn or another suitable lining fabric for additional coverage.
  • Cutting: Use sharp fabric scissors or a rotary cutter and account for the embroidered openings when positioning seams.
  • Pattern Placement: Arrange pattern pieces carefully to maintain the visual continuity of the circular medallions across garment panels.

Care Instructions

Preserve the vibrant colour, cotton fibres and intricate embroidered details with these recommended care instructions:

  • Washing: Machine wash cold, maximum 30°C, on a gentle cycle with similar colours.
  • Detergent: Use a mild detergent suitable for coloured fabrics.
  • Bleaching: Do not bleach.
  • Drying: Air dry away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry.
  • Ironing: Iron on medium heat from the reverse side, preferably using a pressing cloth to protect the embroidery.
  • Prewashing: Prewash before cutting to account for natural cotton shrinkage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is embroidered cotton eyelet fabric?
Embroidered cotton eyelet is a woven cotton fabric decorated with carefully finished openings and embroidered motifs. Also known as broderie anglaise, this technique combines beautiful decorative stitching with openwork to create a richly textured textile.

What makes the starburst medallion design special?
The repeating circular motifs feature delicate spoke-like embroidery across their open centres, surrounded by rings of smaller embroidered eyelets. These intricate details create a distinctive geometric pattern with remarkable texture.

Is this fabric suitable for dresses?
Yes. Its 100% cotton composition, 182 gsm weight and richly textured embroidery make it an excellent choice for summer dresses, button-front dresses, gathered styles and structured casual garments.

Is this fabric transparent?
The woven cotton base provides coverage, but the embroidered cutwork creates intentional openings throughout the fabric. A lining or underlayer may be useful depending on the garment design and desired level of coverage.

Does this cotton eyelet have stretch?
No. This is a non-stretch woven cotton fabric suitable for sewing patterns designed for woven materials.

Is this fabric suitable for blouses and shirts?
Absolutely. Its richly embroidered surface works beautifully for statement blouses, button-up shirts and tops with relatively simple construction details that allow the textile to stand out.

Can I use this fabric for a matching set?
Yes. The all-over circular embroidery makes it particularly attractive for coordinated tops and skirts or elegant summer separates. The consistent pattern helps create a beautifully unified outfit.

How should I care for this blue embroidered cotton?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours, using a mild detergent. Air dry away from direct sunlight and iron on medium heat from the reverse side to protect the embroidery.

What does luxury manufacturer deadstock mean?
This fabric originates from existing stock held by a manufacturer that produces textiles for European luxury fashion houses. It was not newly manufactured specifically for our store, and available quantities are limited.

Will this fabric be restocked?
As a luxury manufacturer deadstock textile, availability is limited and restocking cannot be guaranteed once the remaining inventory has sold out.

Due to the different color variations of each monitor and mobile device, we cannot guarantee the color will exactly match what you see online.
