Designed for protection in changing weather conditions, this technical fabric combines an outer face, a waterproof and breathable membrane, and an integrated inner backing in one laminated construction.
The fabric is windproof and features a durable water-repellent treatment that helps water bead and roll away from the surface. Its breathable membrane allows moisture vapour to escape, helping the wearer remain more comfortable during outdoor activities.
With a weight of 180 gsm and slight one-way stretch, this GORE-TEX fabric offers mobility without feeling excessively heavy. It is suitable for sewing jackets, rainwear, outdoor trousers, accessories and performance garments requiring weather protection.
3-Ply Laminated Construction
The three layers are permanently laminated together and include the outer face fabric, the waterproof membrane and the inner backing. Unlike a traditional two-layer shell, the integrated backing protects the membrane and may eliminate the need for a separate lining in some projects.
A GORE-TEX membrane contains microscopic pores that are smaller than water droplets but larger than water-vapour molecules. This construction helps prevent rain from penetrating while allowing perspiration vapour to escape.

Sewing Recommendations
- Use a new Microtex needle in size 80/12 or 90/14.
- Use a strong, high-quality polyester thread.
- Avoid pins when possible because they create permanent holes in the membrane.
- Use sewing clips or place pins only within the seam allowance.
- Test the stitch length, tension and needle size on a fabric scrap before sewing.
- Use a slightly longer stitch length to reduce the number of needle holes.
- Seam-sealing tape is recommended when a fully waterproof finished garment is required.
- A walking foot or Teflon foot may help the layers feed evenly.

Care Instructions
- Machine wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C / 105°F.
- Use a small amount of liquid detergent.
- Rinse twice and minimize spinning.
- Do not use powder detergent, fabric softener, stain remover or bleach.
- Do not wash with heavily soiled garments.
- Tumble dry on a warm, gentle cycle or line dry.
- Do not dry at a high temperature.
- Once dry, tumble dry for an additional 20 minutes to help reactivate the durable water-repellent treatment.
- When a dryer is unavailable, iron the dry garment on a gentle setting using a towel or cloth between the iron and the fabric.
- Do not use steam.
- Reapply a suitable durable water-repellent treatment if water no longer beads and rolls away after washing and drying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this GORE-TEX fabric waterproof?
The laminated membrane is designed to provide waterproof protection. However, sewing creates needle holes, so the seams should be sealed with an appropriate seam-sealing product when a fully waterproof finished garment is required.
Is this fabric breathable?
Yes. The membrane is designed to allow moisture vapour to escape while helping prevent external moisture from penetrating the fabric.
Does this fabric require a lining?
The 3-ply construction includes an integrated inner backing that protects the membrane. A separate lining may not be necessary for every project, although one can be added for comfort, warmth or a cleaner interior finish.
Can this fabric be sewn with a domestic sewing machine?
Yes. It can be sewn with a properly adjusted domestic sewing machine. Use a new Microtex needle, polyester thread and a slightly longer stitch length, and test your settings on a scrap first.
What is DWR?
DWR stands for durable water repellent. It is a surface treatment that encourages water to bead and roll away instead of soaking into the outer face. The treatment may need to be reactivated or reapplied over time.
Due to differences between monitors, mobile devices and lighting conditions, the colour displayed online may vary slightly from the fabric received.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
Please note that monitor or device settings may affect how you view product colours on our website. We cannot issue a refund if there are discrepancies between the product image and the actual colour.
