Design Details
Two Playful Poodle Motifs:

Recommended Fabrics
Juliana Martejevs recommends woven fabrics without stretch, particularly cotton poplin. Select fabrics of similar weights to help the quilt remain flat and the appliqués hold their shape.
Designer Recommendation: Cotton poplin in various colours, choosing fabrics with similar weights and no stretch.
Fabric Selection Tip: Try a royal blue and deep brown checkerboard with warm peach and rust-coloured poodles, inspired by the designer's sample. Alternatively, experiment with soft pink, ivory and taupe for a more understated look.
Important: This pattern is designed for stable non-stretch woven fabrics. Stretch jersey and other elastic knit fabrics are not recommended for following the original construction.
Fabric Requirements
The following quantities are provided by Juliana Martejevs for fabrics measuring 140 cm - 55" wide, except where otherwise specified.
Important: Fabric A includes the backing material. The designer's cutting instructions specify six 27 × 27 cm squares from each of Fabrics A and B, plus a 102 × 77 cm backing rectangle from Fabric A.
Note: Additional fabric may be needed for directional prints, pattern matching or fabrics with a narrower usable width.

Sewing Tip: A walking foot can help prevent the layers from shifting during quilting. The designer recommends blanket stitch or zigzag stitch around the appliqués.
Important: Batting and double-sided fusible web are two different materials. Batting provides the quilt's padded structure, while fusible web helps position the poodles and decorative stars before stitching.

Pattern Construction Overview
Step 1 – Create the Patchwork Background:
Cut six 27 × 27 cm squares from Fabric A and six from Fabric B. Arrange them into alternating rows and sew together to create the checkerboard background.
Step 2 – Prepare the Backing:
Cut a 102 × 77 cm rectangle from Fabric A and a matching piece of batting. Fuse the batting to the wrong side of the backing, then place the backing and patchwork front together. Secure the layers with quilting stitches.
Step 3 – Prepare the Poodle Appliqués:
Apply double-sided fusible web to Fabrics C, D, E and F. Cut the poodle silhouettes, eyes, noses, irises and stars using the supplied pattern pieces.
Step 4 – Attach the Decorative Motifs:
Position the poodle appliqués on the quilt, fuse them in place and add the contrasting stars. Secure the edges using blanket stitch or zigzag stitch, following the illustrated instructions.
Step 5 – Finish with Bias Binding:
Attach bias tape around the entire perimeter, carefully folding the corners for a neat finish.
Step 6 – Add Optional Hanging Loops:
For wall display, sew fabric loops along the upper edge and hang the quilt from a wooden dowel.

Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
