IMPORTANT – CHECK YOUR MACHINE'S NEEDLE SYSTEM BEFORE ORDERING
These SCHMETZ BLx1 Serger / Overlock Needles are designed specifically for machines that require the BLx1 needle system. BLx1 is not a universal serger needle system, and these needles are therefore not compatible with every serger or overlock machine.
Before purchasing, check your machine's instruction manual or the markings on your existing needles to confirm that your machine requires BLx1 needles.
Do not substitute BLx1 needles for another needle system unless your machine manufacturer specifically lists BLx1 as compatible. In particular, BLx1 and DCx1 needles are not interchangeable.
Designed for Serger & Overlock Machines
SCHMETZ BLx1 needles feature a reinforced blade and sharp point designed for serging a variety of woven and knit fabrics. The specialized construction is made to withstand the high-speed stitching and demanding stitch formation of compatible serger, overlock, cover and safety-stitch machines.
The BLx1 system features a round shank measuring approximately 1.63 mm in diameter and a length of approximately 33 mm from the butt to the eye.
Assorted Sizes for Different Fabrics
Each package contains 5 needles in two useful sizes:
- 2 × Size 75/11: A finer needle suitable for lightweight to medium-weight fabrics.
- 3 × Size 90/14: A stronger needle suitable for medium-weight and heavier fabrics.
Is BLx1 Compatible With My Serger?
Compatibility depends on the specific machine model, not simply the machine brand. Different sergers from the same manufacturer may require completely different needle systems.
BLx1 has historically been specified for certain models from brands including Baby Lock, Bernette, Elna, Janome/New Home, Juki, Necchi, Pfaff, Riccar, Simplicity and Singer, among others. This does not mean that all sergers from these brands use BLx1 needles.
Always verify that “BLx1” is listed in your machine's owner's manual before purchasing.
Please Note
Many modern sergers use other needle systems such as 130/705 H or ELx705. These BLx1 needles should only be used when BLx1 is specifically recommended for your machine.

If a carrier does not service your address, we may need to use an alternative option, which could incur additional charges, particularly for P.O. box addresses.
For remote or rural areas where delivery costs are higher, additional fees may apply. In these cases, we will provide proof of the shipping costs to ensure transparency.
Other Provinces in Canada, USA, and International Shipping
For customers in other Canadian provinces, the USA, or internationally, we offer a range of shipping options through various carriers. The customer is responsible for selecting their preferred shipping method at checkout.
Please note that our system provides an estimated shipping cost at checkout, which may not always reflect the actual shipping charges.
In cases of oversized orders, shipments to rural or remote areas, or delivery to P.O. boxes, the final shipping cost may differ. If this occurs, we will contact you directly with the updated shipping cost, which will be the responsibility of the customer.

All orders shipped outside of Canada — including to the United States — may be subject to import duties, customs fees, taxes and other charges assessed by the destination country’s customs authorities. All of our sewing patterns are sold as digital PDF files and are delivered instantly after purchase.
Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.
Please make sure you have the correct email address and a device that can open PDF files before completing your order.
If you encounter any issues with your download link or file, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
Please note that monitor or device settings may affect how you view product colours on our website. We cannot issue a refund if there are discrepancies between the product image and the actual colour.
