Design Details

Relaxed Sleeveless Silhouette

Recommended Fabrics
Juliana Martejevs recommends lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics without elastane. The fabric should be stable enough to withstand repeated quilting stitches while remaining comfortable to wear.
Designer's Original Fabric: 100% cotton lightweight denim, approximately 130 gsm, combined with volume fleece such as H630.
Fabric Selection Tip: Choose a stable, relatively lightweight woven fabric. Remember that the finished vest also includes additional fabric layers and batting, so a very heavy main fabric may make the garment unnecessarily bulky.
Important: The original pattern is designed for woven fabrics without elastane. Stretch jersey and highly elastic knit fabrics are not recommended for the original construction.
Fabric Requirements
The designer specifies the following quantities for a minimum fabric width of 140 cm - approximately 55".
Important: The 2.90 m requirement for XL–XXXL is approximately 3.17 yards. Some older designer listings incorrectly show 2.2 yards for this amount. Always use the metric requirement when purchasing fabric.
Note: Additional fabric may be needed for directional prints, pattern matching, shrinkage, fabric nap, layout adjustments or narrower usable widths.
Volume Fleece / Batting Requirements
The Keira Vest uses volume fleece, such as H630, to create the padded quilted effect.
Minimum Batting Width: 90 cm - approximately 35 1/2".
Recommended Type: Lightweight fusible volume fleece such as Vlieseline H630.
Quilting Tip: The instructions demonstrate applying volume fleece to the required fabric pieces, transferring the quilting lines and stitching the marked diamond pattern before assembling the garment.

Snap Fastener Tip: Choose snaps suitable for the finished thickness of the quilted fabric. Ensure the selected installation tool is compatible with the snap fasteners.
Sewing Tip: A walking foot can make quilting easier by helping feed the fabric and batting layers evenly through the sewing machine.
Size Range & Fit
The Keira Vest includes seven women's sizes from XS to XXXL.
The designer recommends selecting your size primarily according to your bust circumference. The vest features a relaxed fit designed to be worn comfortably over other garments.
Pattern Construction Overview
Step 1 – Prepare the Quilted Fabric:
Cut the main fabric and volume fleece pieces according to the pattern. Apply the fleece to the pieces that require quilting, then mark the quilting guidelines.
Step 2 – Quilt the Pattern Pieces:
Stitch along the marked lines to create the diamond quilting pattern. Use a straight stitch, keeping the fabric layers smooth and the quilting evenly spaced.
Step 3 – Prepare the Pockets:
Construct the patch pockets using the appropriate outer fabric and volume fleece pieces. Position them using the placement markings on the front sections.
Step 4 – Assemble the Vest:
Join the required front and back components, following the illustrated pattern instructions for the layered construction.
Step 5 – Prepare the Collar:
Construct the collar and collar stand using the marked pattern pieces, then attach the collar assembly to the neckline.
Step 6 – Finish the Outer Edges:
Complete the front opening, neckline, armholes and gently curved hem, following the included sewing instructions.
Step 7 – Attach the Fasteners:
Mark the snap positions carefully, then install the five snap fasteners with the appropriate tools for the selected snaps.
Step 8 – Final Pressing:
Finish the vest according to the instructions, taking care when pressing the quilted fabric and volume fleece.

Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
