Recommended Fabrics
Juliana Martejevs recommends medium-weight stretch sweatshirt fabric, particularly French Terry, with enough recovery to maintain the sweater's comfortable shape.
Designer's Original Fabric: GOTS-certified organic cotton French Terry containing 95% cotton and 5% elastane, approximately 250 gsm.
Fabric Selection Tip: Look for medium-weight sweatshirt knit with comfortable stretch and good recovery. The balloon sleeves are especially attractive when the fabric has enough body to hold their rounded shape without becoming overly stiff.
Important: This pattern is designed for stretch fabrics. Non-stretch woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, linen and ordinary woven denim are not recommended for the original construction.

Important: The quantities above apply to sizes XS–XXXL according to the designer's included material list.
Note: Additional fabric may be required for directional prints, pattern matching, shrinkage, fabric nap, significant garment adjustments or fabrics with a narrower usable width.
Ribbing Requirements
The Sally Sweater requires a separate stretch ribbing fabric for the neckline and sleeve cuffs.

Ribbing Tip: Choose rib knit with enough stretch and recovery to gather the balloon sleeves neatly and allow the neckband to sit comfortably.

Sewing Tip: The sweater can be constructed using a regular sewing machine with an appropriate stitch or an overlocker. A regular sewing machine is sufficient.
Tie-Dye Tip: The decorative dyeing process is optional. When dyeing fabric, follow the instructions supplied with the selected textile dye and confirm compatibility with the fabric's fibre composition.
Size Range & Fit
The Sally Sweater includes seven sizes from XS to XXXL. The design features a relaxed fit and is intended for stretch sweatshirt fabrics.
The designer recommends using your bust circumference as the primary measurement when selecting a size, while also considering the waist and hip measurements.
Sewing Construction Overview
Step 1 – Optional Tie-Dye:
If you choose the tie-dye variation, prepare the cut fabric pieces according to the dye manufacturer's instructions. Tie the damp fabric with elastic bands, dye the fabric and allow it to dry before assembly.
Step 2 – Sew the Body Side Seams:
Place the front and back sweater pieces right sides together and join the side seams using an appropriate machine stitch. Press the seam allowances as instructed.
Step 3 – Assemble the Sleeves:
Join the front and back sleeve sections, matching the pattern markings. The separate sections create the distinctive rounded sleeve shape.
Step 4 – Prepare the Ribbed Cuffs:
Fold and stitch the ribbing pieces into cuffs. Press and fold each cuff so that the seam allowances are enclosed inside.
Step 5 – Attach the Sleeve Cuffs:
Pin the ribbing to the sleeve openings and stretch the ribbing evenly while stitching. This gathers the larger sleeve opening into the fitted cuff, creating the balloon silhouette.
Step 6 – Insert the Sleeves:
Position the sleeves in the armholes with right sides together, carefully matching the seams and notches before stitching.
Step 7 – Prepare the Neckband:
Join the short ends of the ribbing neckband, press the seam allowances and fold the band lengthwise.
Step 8 – Attach the Neckband:
Match the neckband markings with the sweater neckline and stretch the ribbing evenly while sewing it in place.
Step 9 – Finish the Lower Hem:
Turn the lower hem inward by approximately 4 cm, press and stitch close to the raw edge, following the designer's finishing instructions.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
