Design Details
Asymmetrical Silhouette:
The Willow Skirt stands out with its unconventional combination of fitted and flared sections. The asymmetrical construction creates a striking silhouette that gives the skirt movement and visual interest.
Fitted Tailored Section:
One section of the skirt follows the natural contours of the waist and hips, creating a clean, elegant fit. Six shaping darts help contour the fabric to the body for a more refined finish.
Dramatic Circular Flounce:
The flared section is inspired by the shape of a circle skirt. Its generous curved construction creates beautiful drape and movement, contrasting with the more structured fitted section.
Two-Fabric Design Possibility:

Invisible Zipper Closure:

Recommended Fabrics
Juliana Martejevs recommends medium-weight woven fabrics with little or no stretch. The ideal fabric should provide enough structure for the fitted section while allowing the circular flounce to fall gracefully.
Designer's Original Fabric: 100% virgin wool suiting, approximately 185 gsm.
Fabric Selection Tip: Choose fabrics with a similar weight and drape if combining two different materials. A fabric that is too stiff may make the flounce stand away from the body, while an excessively soft fabric may not provide enough definition for the fitted section.
Important: The pattern is drafted for medium-weight woven fabrics with little or no elastane. Very stretchy jersey fabrics are not recommended for the original construction.
Fabric Requirements
The following quantities are taken from the included Juliana Martejevs e-book for fabrics measuring 140 cm - 55" wide.
One-Fabric Option: If sewing the entire skirt in a single fabric, the combined designer-recommended lengths are approximately 2.25 m for sizes XS–XL or 2.30 m for sizes XXL–XXXL, before allowing for any additional layout considerations.
Two-Fabric Option: Select one fabric for the fitted skirt section and a contrasting fabric for the circular flounce. This is an excellent way to emphasize the distinctive asymmetrical design.
Important: The quantities above follow the included PDF e-book. The designer's online listing gives 1.30 m for the flared section across all sizes, while the e-book specifies 1.25 m for XS–XL and 1.30 m for XXL–XXXL.
Note: Additional fabric may be required for directional prints, pattern matching, fabric shrinkage, fabric nap or changes to the skirt length.

The Willow Skirt is available in seven women's sizes, XS–XXXL. The designer recommends selecting your size primarily according to your waist and hip measurements.
Because the skirt includes a fitted section through the waist and hips, a toile is recommended to check the fit and balance before cutting into your final fabric.

Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
