An exceptional Nadya Toto designer deadstock velvet dévoré jersey in timeless black. This lightweight stretch knit combines plush velvet motifs with sheer areas of jersey, creating a dramatic tonal design that changes beautifully with the light.
The dévoré technique creates areas of contrasting opacity and texture across the surface. Rich black velvet motifs rise against a fine semi-sheer ground, producing a sophisticated play between matte transparency and the soft lustre of velvet. The abstract design gives the fabric an elevated, contemporary appearance while remaining entirely monochromatic.
At only 120 gsm, this fabric is considerably lighter and more fluid than a traditional velvet. Its jersey construction and generous 10% elastane content provide stretch and flexibility, making it particularly well suited to fitted, draped and body-skimming garments.

Care
Due to the delicate velvet pile, semi-sheer ground and high elastane content, we recommend gentle care. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent or use a very gentle machine cycle if appropriate. Do not bleach. Avoid wringing or twisting. Lay flat to dry and avoid high heat. Do not press directly onto the velvet surface. Always test your preferred washing and pressing method on a small swatch first.

What is velvet dévoré?
Velvet dévoré, also known as burnout velvet, is a fabric in which selected areas of the velvet pile are removed to create a pattern. This produces a distinctive contrast between plush velvet motifs and more transparent areas of the base fabric.
Is this fabric sheer?
Partially. The velvet motifs are more opaque, while the areas between them are semi-sheer. A lining or underlayer may be desirable depending on the garment.
Does this fabric stretch?
Yes. This is a jersey knit containing 10% elastane, giving it significant flexibility. We recommend testing the actual stretch percentage before choosing a sewing pattern that specifies a minimum amount of stretch.
Is this fabric suitable for dresses?
Yes. Its lightweight construction, fluid drape and stretch make it particularly well suited to fitted, ruched, draped and evening dresses.
What does designer deadstock mean?

Because digital products cannot be returned once downloaded, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges on any PDF pattern purchases.

We strive for excellence in our products and customer service, but some imperfections may occur with fabric.
Please note that stains, holes, or blemishes within 3 inches (10 cm) of the edge are considered acceptable. Missing or pulled knit stitches on the wrong side of the fabric that do not distort the face are also considered acceptable. Additionally, fabric cut at 1 to 3 cm from the edge is acceptable. Stains on the inside of the fabric are also acceptable if they do not appear on the right side.
Please be aware that fabric may shrink after the first wash, so we recommend purchasing slightly more than the exact length required for your project.
We cannot cancel or refund orders once we've cut your fabric. If a refund is necessary, a 5% administration fee of your total bill will be charged.
We cannot offer refunds or compensation for items purchased a few days before they go on sale.
If a product is sold out, we'll contact you immediately to offer either a refund of the item at the price you've paid or a replacement with a product of equal value.
